Springtime in Amelia Island
As we enter into spring we see the changes occur. Downtown becomes flooded with smiling faces that fall in love with our quaint town. Typically only here for a short period of time, but it’s their time to have fun, enjoy our favorite spots and soak in vitamin D. Spring break is finally here and with it come the spring breakers! As they descend upon our island town they remember why they come back year after year.
13 miles long and four miles wide – it’s the perfect size for anyone. Whether you’re a local looking for the best in outdoor recreation or a visitor who is visiting this beautiful area, we have your adventure covered!
The first step is to find your favorite beach spot. Amelia Island is known for its beautiful, quiet beaches. The island has over 40 public access points, many without parking or amenities. These access points are best for walking to the beach from your vacation rental, meaning you can easily spend a day enjoying the sand and surf without worrying about driving, parking, or crowds.

Find the perfect lunch spot. The variety of food here is amazing. You can’t go wrong eating anywhere. Whenever we have time to grab lunch downtown, we love stopping at Cafe Karibu or Happy Tomato. The Salty Pelican has some of the best fried seafood in town, and we can’t get enough of their shrimp tacos! If we need a good sandwich, we like going to 4th Street Deli. And if burgers are more your style, you can’t go wrong with Tasty’s – they’re just plain delicious!
Spend some time on the water. If water activities are more your liking, Amelia Island offers many! Check out kayaking to explore some of our island’s most beautiful wildlife and nature. Deep sea fishing with one of our awesome local charter captains is a day you’ll never forget. Or if you like something a little faster, check out the Jet Ski tour. You also can spend an evening on one of our sunset cruises, enjoy live music, and a gorgeous sunset!
Fun activities just for you. Come enjoy a day of fun with your friends and family! Challenge your loved one in a game of putt-putt. Putt-Putt Fun Center, Gregor MacGregor’s Mini Links & Drinks, and Island Falls Adventure Golf are the four courses located on this island full of fun.. Head to Duck Pinz on a Friday night for a round of bowling, and delicious drinks. They have a fantastic arcade area as well, where you can challenge your friends with your favorite games! Where will you find live music? You’ll have to listen closely, but there’s live music at many of our favorite spots. From The Green Turtle Tavern to The Palace Saloon and PJ D’s – they’re all great places to get your groove on.
